The area around La Lune has many varied and interesting things to do for adults, families and children alike. The countryside is beautiful and the towns and villages retains that special French 'charm'.

Just 5 mins away in the village of BRULON,  is a lake with beach and safe swimming, a play area for children. crazy golf, tennis courts, skate boarding park and lots more. You can hire push bikes to explore some of the 170 kms of bike trails which start from here, or canoes and kayaks for a fun day out on the river. There is a restaurant/bar overlooking the lake where you can enjoy a drink and lunch. Here, there is certainly something for all the family to enjoy.

LE MANS is just 30 kms away and is a truly unique city most famous for its 24 hour motor race, although there are many other track events between the months of April and October. The Old Town of Le Mans with its crooked buildings, cobbled streets and 15th century half timbered houses is overlooked by the Cathedral of St Julien dating back to the 11th Century.

During the months of July and August after 9.00pm, Le Mans hosts ‘La Nuit des Chimeres’ this is a fabulous free sound and light show on the Cathedral’s historic Plantagenet walls. Wander around with the locals and marvel at the ever-changing parade of mythological beasts projected on the ramparts. An absolute must.

The petite medieval village of SAINT SUZANNE with a chateau and fortress, is only 15 minutes away. You  can take in the breath taking scenery or  maybe meander down one of the many walking trails from here.

Also 15 minutes from La Lune are the caves and canyons at SAULGES,  The caves of ‘Margot’ and ‘Rochefort’ were inhabited from the Paleolithic era. Tours of the caves are available from April to November

The chateau at MEZANGERS with its beautiful grounds is well worth a visit, there is also an excellent water park just outside the village.

During the summer most of the villages will hold a Brocante/bric-a-brac market.  These are similar to what we know as a car boot sale, but with a difference. The  whole village gets involved which has a lovely French feel.  The place to go if you like searching for those antique treasures.
